SHROPSHIRE CHARITIES BENEFIT FROM ANNIVERSARY FUNDRAISING

Two Shropshire charities have each received a £3,500 donation from Grocontinental. The £7,000 charity fund was raised by the company at a Summer Ball held to celebrate its 70th anniversary.
Margaret Hiles from Whitchurch Community Hospital and Mike Perry, representing Severn Hospice, received cheques from Ray and Linda Grocott of Grocontinental.
Held at the MacDonald Hill Valley Hotel in Whitchurch, the Summer Ball was attended by 230 guests and funds were raised from an auction and raffle. Many of the prizes were donated by Grocontinental’s business partners and local shops and companies.
Speaking at the cheque presentation Ray Grocott said:
‘There are two very special charities operating in the heart of our community. Margaret Hiles and her team of fundraisers do a magnificent job to support our excellent local hospital and the exemplary work of the Hospice has supported many Whitchurch families and friends in recent years.’
