Staff In Cycling Challenge

Two members of Grocontinental staff have completed a 910 mile, 16-day Land’s End to John O’Groats cycling challenge to raise money for charity.

Operations Manager, Paul Brazier, and Steven Plant, Customer Account Manager, set out on their ‘End to End’ tour on Friday, 16th May. They hope to raise over £3,000 for Shropshire’s County Air Ambulance Trust and the British Heart Foundation.

Both men trained hard throughout the winter months, with Paul often swapping his car for his bike on his daily 50 mile-round trip between his home in Telford and work.

A challenge of this magnitude was a first for both men who are both keen cyclists

'We realise that the 910 mile trip was no mean feat and that, even in May, we faced the full brunt of British weather. The tour will be a real personal challenge as well as a great opportunity to raise some money,' said Paul.

Steven commented, 'We've had tremendous support from our friends and families and Grocontinental in assisting with the planning for the tour.'

Before they set off on their trip, the lads were given a good send-off with the company staging a sponsored dress-down day and a raffle which raised £260. Paul and Steven stopped off for a cup of tea at Grocontinental on 20th May with 344 miles under their belt.
