LOCAL MEN IN CHARITY CYCLING CHALLENGE

Two Shropshire men will be taking on a 910 mile, 16-day Land’s End to John O’Groats cycling challenge to raise money for charity.

Paul Brazier, from Telford, and Steven Plant, of Whitchurch, who both work for Whitchurch-based international distribution and storage company, Grocontinental, will set out on their ‘End to End’ tour on 16th May. They hope to raise over £1,000 for Shropshire’s County Air Ambulance Trust and the British Heart Foundation.

Both men have been training hard throughout the winter months, with Paul swapping his car for his bike on his daily 50 mile-round trip between his home in Telford and Grocontinental.

A challenge of this magnitude is a first for both men who are both keen cyclists, but they are looking forward to their trip:

‘We realise that the 910 mile trip is no mean feat and that, even in May, we are likely to face the full brunt of British weather.  The tour will be a real personal challenge as well as a great opportunity to raise some money,’ said Operations Manager, Paul.

Steven commented, ‘It’s hard to imagine what we’ll feel like after 16 days on the road, but we are determined to get through it.  We’ve had tremendous support from our friends and families and Grocontinental in assisting with the planning for the tour.’

Grocontinental will be one the team’s major sponsors and Steven, in his role as Customer Account Manager, has been contacting the company’s customers based along their route to drum up support and maximise fundraising.

To sponsor Paul and Steven, go to www.justgiving.com/jetjoglads or alternatively, please send cheques made payable to either charity to Paul Brazier, Grocontinental, Shakespeare Way, Whitchurch, Shropshire SY13 1LJ.
